Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance Brings Thousands to the Desert

Thousands of classic and vintage car enthusiasts will be heading to The Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance in La Quinta, CA, just outside Palm Springs, on Sunday, February 27th. Hailed as one of the “Top Ten Classic Car Shows in the World,” the 4th Annual Concours d’Elegance & Vintage Car Auction will be highlighting “100 Years of Indy Cars,” marking the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500.
Opening at 10 am and running till 4 pm on Sunday, February 27th, The Concours d’Elegance & Vintage Car Auction will feature more than 200 classic and vintage cars from across the United States, Canada and Europe. Some of the more unique cars shown will be the 1913 Isotta Fraschini that raced at the Indy 500, a 1920 Bugatti Type 13 Brescia, 1930 Model L-29 Cord, and a 1933 Maserati Grand Prix 8-CM.
In addition, an Auction of 75 finely restored automobiles, conducted by EG Auctions (http://www.egauctions.com), will run simultaneously with the Concours on the Mountain Golf Course at the La Quinta Resort & Club against the dramatic setting of the Santa Rosa Mountains.
In addition to the main events on February 27, The Desert Classic Vintage Car Auction Preview presented by EG Auctions will take place on Friday, February 25, from 5 to 8 pm, at Old Town La Quinta. Free and open to the public, among some of the cars shown will be a 1925 Lincoln Model L Limousine owned by Greta Garbo and a 1956 Rolls Royce owned by Gary Grant.
Saturday, February 26 will be The Desert Classic Tour that will also assemble at Old Town La Quinta from 8 to 9 am. Shortly thereafter the cars will depart on a driving tour through the Coachella Valley, ending around 1 pm at Cuistot Restaurant on El Paseo in Palm Desert. An exclusive VIP Only preview party will be held Saturday evening, February 26, at the exclusive Greta Garbo Casita on the grounds of the historic La Quinta Resort.
Sponsors for the weekend of events are the historic La Quinta Resort & Club; the City of La Quinta, California; Mercedes Benz Classic Center, Cadillac, Tesla, Motor Trend Classic, and Palm Springs Life. Net proceeds from the event will go to Loving All Animals (http://www.lovingallanimals.org), Tools for Tomorrow (http://www.afterschooltools.org), and Wounded Warrior Project (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
Tickets to the Concours & Auction are $ 25 in advance and $ 35 on the day of the event. Children under 12 and active duty military are free.
